Love Never Dies

Showbiz - Great Shows & Seats

Girls, I went to see Love Never Dies last night and while I loved the original Phantom, the show is not what I would call a  Phantom 2. The plot has a few shocks, but in some ways is reasonably predictable, I did though feel that the end did not leave me with the dramatic imagery of the original Phantom. The music was well structured and the songs told the story well and the Lead, Ben Lewis was amazing, his voice and range just carried the show. The stage production was visually stunning, it did though lack the mystery and suspense of its predecessor. The problem I had was that the Phantom this time seemed to have mellowed, being seen more than not and the mystery and suspense of the first Phantom void in this production. When the show ended I was a little stunned and felt that something was missing, I just can’t put my finger on it. Anyway it is a good night out, and maybe I was expecting far too much. Anyway go have a look and you be the judge.

Melbourne CBD – Hairspray the musical

Girls this show is a fun toe tapping experience and can I suggest you couple it up with dinner for $1 (see our link below) I suggest the Mezzo bar and grill, just click on the “dinner on us” tab via the link below. One suggestion avoid the European Bier cafe, didn’t like that experience at all!!! Anyway, the show is set in 1962, the ’50s are out and change is in the air. Baltimore’s Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, and has one passion – to dance. The songs take Tracy from the soundstage of a ’60s-style dance show to the streets of Baltimore to a downtown rhythm and blues record shop. It’s a fun show not to be missed and from $110 with dinner…WOW!!

Melbourne CBD – La Mama

La mama is currently showcasing a Triple Bill of Wild Delight!
The Feast of Argentina Gina Catalina, Salon de Dance…Deluge and The Candy Butchers, Tooth & Nail.
We went to the first show; written and performed by Moira Finucane, mainly because we had seen her work in the Burlesque hour( we have reviewed previously). Again we were confronted, humored and enthralled by the performance. The show is intimate, basically the theatre can only seat about 40 or so people, so be prepared to be virtually in the show. Savory style food is served before and during the show and is magnificently melded into the performance. With the integration of taste and theatre all combining to provide a truly alternate yet provocative experience. Cured meats, wine and mussles, tequila and ice cream all served sequentially to entice the taste buds while Moira Finuccane excites the senses. This is a must see, go to http://www.lamama.com.au for more information on the shows.
