Yes girls it once was a Mortuary but thankfully that was a very long time ago. The only thing that remains now of this buildings past is it’s name. This establishment is quirky and oozes warmth and charm. I have eaten here a few times and can I say on this visit the food was outstanding, thanks to a new Chef. For entree my friend and I shared the duck confit and walnut croquettes with duck parfait and shiraz black pepper jelly and Sesame and pepper calamari. The croquettes were outstanding, so good in fact that I am still craving them now! For mains I had the Pasture Fed Gippsland Tenderloin which was cooked to perfection, it basically melted in my mouth. My friend had the Roasted Pork Belly which was served with cider stewed apples and a pickled mushroom salad, with each bite my friend almost replicated the scene from when Harry met Sally. The wine list had a good selection and the staff were friendly and attentive. I can’t wait to get back to try the roasted pumpkin risotto with almonds crème fraiche and honey or even the The Hawthorn (a waygu burger).
This new menu is to die for…To visit the website and see the menue Click Here

Girls, I went to see Love Never Dies last night and while I loved the original Phantom, the show is not what I would call a Phantom 2. The plot has a few shocks, but in some ways is reasonably predictable, I did though feel that the end did not leave me with the dramatic imagery of the original Phantom. The music was well structured and the songs told the story well and the Lead, Ben Lewis was amazing, his voice and range just carried the show. The stage production was visually stunning, it did though lack the mystery and suspense of its predecessor. The problem I had was that the Phantom this time seemed to have mellowed, being seen more than not and the mystery and suspense of the first Phantom void in this production. When the show ended I was a little stunned and felt that something was missing, I just can’t put my finger on it. Anyway it is a good night out, and maybe I was expecting far too much. Anyway go have a look and you be the judge.

Well girls they say that there is only one thing as good as sex….and that is Chocolate and there is plenty (chocolate that is) at the North Wharf in the Docklands. Ladies this is the 4th year that the Chocolate Rush Chocolate Festival will educate, indulge and challenge your palate. You will get to experience all there is to know about chocolate while experiencing offers by Australia’s finest chocolatiers and pastry chefs. While there you can take a class or visit the chocolate market where you can talk to the chocolatiers, sample and taste what’s on offer and buy some of your favourites to take home. Yummm.. There are Chocolate Demonstrations on the chocolate stage throughout the day and then for something different why not try unique handmade chocolates with black truffle imported from Italy. Also there is an exclusive range of European truffle products, including truffle honey, truffle salt and truffle cavier. Plus fresh black Pengord truffle, truffle ice cream and truffle eggs, chocolate truffle mousse, truffle oil and truffle mustard. Heaven!!!
Then after all that chocolate you will need somewhere to rest your head so why not stay in the Docklands.

Want a day of bliss and relaxation, well I found it! From the minute you walk in you can feel the tension fade away. Choose from the two main facilities which provide relaxation and recreational spa experiences. The private Spa Dreaming Centre has an emphasis on tranquil spaces, private pools (with children under 16 not allowed… which I liked) and an array of pampering spa treatments to revitalise the body and soul. A cafe in the spa centre provides the ideal setting for a lunch ( although I did not find it over healthy). Breakfast is available every day of the week and a Dine & Bathe package is available for dinner on Friday, Saturday and Tuesday evenings.
The Bath House area features a wide variety of bathing options in fact 20 different bathing pools including a cave pool, reflexology walk, hydrotherapy pool. When you need some more time out you can relax on the deck chairs and enjoy the scenery. The Hot Springs will also hire you towels, robes or lockers. For a single entry it cost $30 just for the bathing pools but if you have the entertainment book you can get a 2 for 1 entry. Or even easier book at GODO Link ….print the voucher and take it with you.

Girls Just when you hoped legwarmers, high hair and trashy 80s songs were gone and forgotten, “The Party Girls” are back in black (vinyl) pumping out hits from Tina Turner, Blondie, The Go Gos, Madonna,ABBA, Cher and many more female artists. These talented, gorgeous and experienced performers deliver a fun and fabulous 80s musical experience. The girls will definitely get you dancing the Nutbush, chanting I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll, crooning It’s A Heartache and have you screaming for more. So girls, Dust off your disco balls and gel that hair up for a mind-blowing night with “The Party Girls”. Wig on or wig out!

Melbourne offers so many diverse things to do and if you don’t have local knowledge then where do start??
So here is our weekend suggestions to ensure your time in the city is full of fun and laughter.
Friday night check into your accommodation ( check the GWA site for suggestions)
Start out by putting your party shoes on and head off to one of Melbourne’s bars. Here are some of our favourites:
- Silk Road in Collins Street
- Collins Quarter in Collins Street
- Transit in Swanston Street
- Seamstress in Lonsdale st
- Blue Diamond Club in Queen St
After a few quiet bubbles its time for dinner and as Melbourne is full of fantastic restaurants the choice is almost endless. Here are our suggestions again
- Chocolate Buddha at Fed Square
- Movida in Flinders Street
- Scusami at Southbank
- Eurpoean in spring st
- Punch Lane top of Little bourke
Or stroll down china town, there are plenty to choose from. Our favorite is Longrain at the top end of little Bourke.
After dinner why not head to one of the bars, where people watching is always fun but remember not to stay out toooo late as there is shopping to be had on Saturday.
Our suggestions of late night bars where you don’t need to yell to have a conversation are:
- Long Room in Collins St
- Madame Brussels in Bourke St
- Society in Bourke St
- Martini bar in Collins St
Saturday if breakfast is not included in your accommodation then my suggestions are:
- European in Spring St
- Ludo in Queen St
- The Young and Jacksons opposite Flinders Street Station.
Now your tummy is full its time for shopping!
Melbourne is renowned for our funky boutiques, outlet stores and high end fashion.
If its bargains you want then catch a tram and head to Bridge Road Richmond for factory outlets or for Shopping under one roof get a bus to Chadstone; which is the largest shopping centre in Australia.
For High end fashion head to the Paris end of Collins St. Alternatively why not check out the laneways and secret shops, take a ”hidden secret” tour.
As we know shopping can be tiring so Saturday night why not stay in put your feet up and relax, you can order in dinner by using cuisine courier.
Sunday:
After breakfast head down to the weekly outdoor market along the banks of the yarra, just near the Arts Centre and Southbank. You will find lots of homemade gifts, funky jewelry and street performers.
If you are like me, by now you would have had enough of shopping. So why not indulge in a spa treatment before heading home.
My suggestions are:
- Aveda on Spring
- Ella Bache at Melbourne Central
- Orchid Day Spa in Hardware Lane

Ever wanted to try your hand at being one of the awesome foursome? Personally I would prefer someone else rowing while I sipped a glass of bubbles but for those who are a little more athletic on the first Sunday of every month between 10am and 11.30am the Y rowing club allows you to experience team rowing. Bookings are generally not required and you do not have to be exceptionally strong or fit, just turn up and have some fun.
The sessions are open to both male and females and you will receive basic tuition in crews of 4. You don’t need to bring your own crew as there are always eager beginners to make up a crew. All you need is a pair of thick socks, bike shorts or track pants and a warm top during winter, and don’t worry about getting wet as the rowing shells do not roll over (thank God). Y rowing centre is located at Cnr Queens Rd and Lakeside Dve Albert Park. Directly underneath the Power House Function Centre.
